where there is an opening to allow the material to exit the machine and discharge into spout. The opening can

becontrolled by means of an adjustable slide to ensure the level of grain mass in the machineis optimum for efcient

operation. The lifted material is discharged, as the pockets face down in their rotation, into small troughs located between the

discs. The lifted material from the troughs can all beallowed to collect in hopper below, or some of the lifted

material, that may requirefurther treatment, can be directed to small conveyor. This conveyor top is covered withsmall aps. The conveyor is located on the edge of the passage of lifted material fromthe troughs before they roll over and drop in to the hopper below. The last few discs generally have liftings that may not be pure and, therefore, by opening the little aps corresponding to these liftings allows the material to be conveyed back to the head endof the machine once again for retreatment. 3.2.4.6 Indented Cylinders Indented cylinders are also used for length separation, as is the disc separator. It removes shorter seeds from the mass of wheat as well as picks up wheat kernels from the mass of longer seeds, such as oats and barley. Instead of using several rotating discs with pockets it uses long rotating cylinder with indents. The design and the operation of this can bedescribed as follows. The wheat stream enters the head end of the machine (Fig. 1a) and reaches the indented surface which picks up the materials that the shape of the indentations. The 2 Sarkar material is picked up by the indentations in their upward motion and carried up to point beyond which the material falls out of the edge of the indented pockets (see Fig. 1b).The material discharged is collected into built-in trough (see Fig. 1c). The trough runsalong the length of the cylinder and remains stationary. The position of the trough, interms of inclination, can be adjusted from outside the cylinder through hand wheel and its
