thusallowing high percentage of rened our to be extracted. Relatively ner nylon sieves are used for material contaminated with bran and germ particles. The neness of theaperture size of the nylons is proportional to the degree of contamination as well as themean particle size of the material to be sifted. While segregating material on its basis of degree of purity and particle size, the quantity of the material segregated must also be carefully considered. Each machine passage, such as grinding rolls, purication passage,and plansifter section, requires certain quantity for optimal operation. Although on onehand, selection of numerous fractions within narrow bands for purity and particle sizeallows one to be discriminating; on the other hand, it may leave much less quantity in Grain-Milling Operations 2 each of these fractions, resulting in less than optimum performance. Therefore, when de- signing owsheet these two aspects must be balanced, and often the integrity of quality(purity) and particle size is required to be compromised to maintain balance with quantity.Since different mills operate under different conditions, the consideration given to ow-sheet design of our mill relative to the foregoing factors warrants much careful planning and thought.
