Prior to startup, the gear unit should be prelubricated for approx. 3 minutes by means of the oil supply system. During this time, rolling bearings and gear teeth will be adequately supplied with oil for startup. Note: The prelubrication phase must not take longer than 3 minutes since there will be heavy foaming of the oil at low temperatures. Be sure to consult with us if the oiltemperature is < 1 . Note: Be sure to observe the Operating Instructions of the oil supply system for operation and maintenance. 7.2.3 Initial operation After due observance of the relevant operating instructions, the gear unit can be put into operation. no-load run of the gear unit should be limited to minimum time. During this time, the following points have to be observed: ) Oil level Following initial operation, the oil level will drop and will settle down with increasing heating up of the gear unit at the operating oil level mark. If the gear unit does not heat up with inadequate load drop, the cooling water supply should be restricted in order to avoid foaming of the oil. ) Oil leakages Screw joints should be observed for oil leakages and, if necessary, resealed! 7.2.4 Checking procedure The following visual checks must be conducted and recorded when starting up:Oil level. Oil tightness of the oil cooling or oil supply lines. Opening condition of the shut-off valves. Effectiveness of the shaft seals. Freedom of the rotating parts from contact. The tension pressures and pretensioning forces in accordance with item 6.3.2.4 must also be recorded in this document. Note: The document must be kept with the operating instructions.
