Once the vaccine was finally available, there wasnt anywhere near enough of it. To meet this challenge, our partner and long-standing customer BioNTech ecided to completely re -equip factory in Marburg to set up new production facility for their COVID -1 vaccine. And do it as quickly as possible. Normally, project like this takes around one to one -and--half years. Andreas Mhle and his colleagues ccomplished the job together with the customer in just five months. Millions of people could then be vaccinated sooner. Their work helped save lives. Five months instead of eighteen. How did he do it? Andreas and his team tried out new ways of thinking and working. To appreciate what was accomplished, you need to know that complex pharmaceutical projects are usually handled sequentially that is, one step after the other. And that simply takes time. BioNTech didnt have time. Thats why the team worked thr ough the various tasks in parallel using agile methods wherever possible. In the end, by combining the real and digital worlds, production was ramped up in record time.
