of blades, controlsystems and towers. NEG Micons production set-up is geared for growth to much greater extent than previously. 1A

new blade factory with appreciable capacity was opened on the Isle of Wight in2. Towers are manufactured by the Danishsubsidiary Alustl, which has facilities inRudkbing and Skagen, and by subcontrac-tors. Many of the control systems and all thesoftware are developed and manufactured bythe subsidiary DanControl, which is alsoresponsible for purchasing the remainingcontrol systems from subcontractors. In 2, NEG Micon also had capacity for nacelle assembly in Denmark, theNetherlands, the United States, India, Spain,China and Japan. Blade factory well underway The highlight of the year from the point ofview of production was the establishment ofthe new blade factory on the Isle of Wight.Production started on 1 September andprogressed satisfactorily during the autumn.When full capacity is achieved in 2, thefactory will be able to meet up to 3 per centof NEG Micons current demand forblades.This will improve flexibility in production and reduce dependence on external suppliers. Simplified supply of towers and control systems The benefits of insourcing tower production via the acquisition of Alustl were document-ed in 2 in the form of reduced depen-dency on suppliers and greater transparencywith regard to price.
