PLAYGROUND AT DOG PARK Committeeman Trzaska stated that he was at the dog park behind the Municipal Building and as per an old developers agreement, the developer of Montgomery Grove installed new playground next to the dog park. They also paved the pathway and installed bridge over the Pike Brook. 2. BOARD OF EDUCATION Deputy Mayor Gural stated that she attended the recent Board of Education meeting. The Board voted to put Superintendent Nancy Gartenberg on paid administrative leave and Mary McLaughlin was voted as Interim Superintendent. The Board swore in new Board of Education member who was replacing Rick Cavalli. She stated that the award winning Robotics Team also gave presentation. There was some public comment in which resident asked about procedures for active shooter situations. The Police Department does coordinate with the school district with what they do to prepare for active shooter scenario, how they communicate with the Police Department, and what the Township can do to help alleviate miscommunication or let parents know what is going on. The rule of thumb for parents is not to do anything and to wait to be told what to do. Dont show up at the school and dont block traffic. Police Lieutenant Gill stated that lot of the communication on what to do should come from the school system itself as opposed to the Police Department. Law Enforcement has hard protocol as far as their response and their entry. The Police are working with the County on joint task force where the fire department and law enforcement will train together in active shooter scenarios. Mayor Jaffer suggested having meeting with parents, members of the school board, and the Police to discuss the fear and uncertainty.
