3a),are suitableas refrigerantsforreplacing refrigerant R1,which isextremelydamaging to the ozone layer. R1a is especially suitable from the standpoint of thermod namics

and energy It is non-toxic and easy to manufacture Its greatest disadvantage is its lammabihty, caused four dro en atoms

in the molecule R1a will soon be available in large quanti- tl'es It is cxemical$ stagle and non-flammable Its behaviour

in mixtures with refrigerator oils is problematic Sli htly higher primary energy consumption must be expected from the use of

R1a, due to # fact that the coefficients of performance of ideal refrigeration processes using R1a are somewhat below those of processes using R1. If mixture of R1a and R1a is used, it may be possible to alleviate or completely eliminate the respective unfavourable properties of the pure substances - The addition of R1a suppresses the flammability of R1a - The mixture is expected to have more favourable thermodynamicand energetic properties ~ than pure R1a 2. Working steps refrigerants and their mixtures, the primary goal of the project is to determine the thermody- namic properties of the R1alR1a mixture experimentally The following four sub-goals can be formulated in this context: - Measurement of the vapour pressure of R1a and the phase equilibrium of the R1a/ - Measurement of the gas density of R1a and the R1a/R1a mixture - Measurement of the liquid density of R1a and the R1a/R1a mixture - Correlation of the data The thermodynamic properties of the other mixture component, R1a, are known from another research project of the lnstitut fur Thermodynamik of Hannover University - ____ Due to the fact that only little is known about the thermodynamic properties of the two new - R1a mixture 2 3. Results The thermodynamic properties of R1a were measured on three different apparatuses. The entire measurement rogramme is illustrated in , diagram. 5 measurements of vapour pressure were recorgd with phase equilibr
