Also lock the output end of the gear unit in position at the fan so that the fan cannot drive the unit. Take measures to preserve the gear unit if it is to be out of service for prolonged period. Follow the procedure described in instructions7. For gear units with separate oil supply system or separate oil cooling system, perform the following steps before you preserve the gear unit: Disconnect the gear unit from the separate oil supply system or separate oil cooling system. Seal the openings in the gear unit, separate oil supply system and separate oil cooling system so that they are air-tight.
