Concerning this, the possibilities for the supply of spare parts and chemicals were taken into account and the plant was optimized regarding repair, work and special production and working conditions in the Philippines. In cooperation with Philippine skilled workers answers were found regarding construction technology and installation, the operation process, the used chemicals as well as steps for quality assurance and depositing of the waste. To assure continuous operation investigations were made by SEP and the sub-suppliersespe- cially concerning the modified construction.of components and the electrolytes. To train the skilled workersfrom the Philippines in Germany and to getthem used to the chem- ical and electro-chemical basis of electroplating and process management the costs were 5 shared between the Philippine and German partners. Especially the security precautions and the recycling/decontamination actions weretaken into account. In the same way the identification of quality deviation, thesearch of origins of disturb- ance and "trouble shooting" were trained. This work was aligned to the complete project FKZ OlVQ1. 4. Construction and test of the plant for zinc-electroplating of low waste output The main tasks of this partial project were: . - design and construction of the plant, - testing the plant and optimization of the operation. The technology of the zinc-electroplating was optimized for the climate conditions in the Philippines. The higher air- and water temperatures as well as the high humidity cause dete- rioration of all processing steps.
